  • 5 tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Halloween M&Ms
  • 3 tbsp Halloween jimmies
  • candy eyeballs for decoration
  • extra Halloween M&Ms and jimmies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter with light brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg yolks and vanilla extract until pale.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture without overmixing.
  6. Fold in Halloween M&Ms and jimmies gently.
  7. Scoop dough onto prepared sheets, adding extra candies on top.
  8. Bake for 10–11 minutes until set but soft in the center.
  9. Cool on wire racks before serving.
